Pimm’s – a staple drink at popular events

Today my new Filipina friend Jinky taught me to drink Pimm’s. It’s a punch, as we call it in the Philippines.

Pimm’s has been around since the late 1800’s. A fruity drink with alcohol and lemonade or ginger ale (Jinky used Sprite) mixed with slices cucumber, strawberries, oranges and mint leaves. Plus ice. She put all the ingredients in a lunchbox, then we mixed them all in the plastic “apple cups”.

We were in Skytteholmsparken when she took out her apple-looking cups and prepared our drinks.

Pimm’s is popular in the south of England and is the staple drink at popular events like Wimbledon Tournament and Chelsea Flower Show.
